Editorial policy
How our Canadian financial education content is researched, sourced, reviewed and kept current.
What this site publishes
CanadaGFI.ca publishes educational information for Canadians researching life insurance, wealth planning, tax-efficient strategies, asset protection, estate and legacy planning, Infinite Banking concepts, segregated funds, investments and mortgage protection.
Published material is general information. It is not personalized financial, insurance, investment, tax or legal advice, and it is not an offer or recommendation of any specific product.
Sourcing standards
Factual statements about Canadian tax, regulation and product structure are sourced to primary material wherever possible: the Government of Canada, the Canada Revenue Agency, the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada, OSFI, provincial insurance regulators and insurance councils, the Canadian Securities Administrators, CIRO, CLHIA and Assuris.
We do not cite low-quality sites to inflate a reference list, and we do not fabricate citations, statistics, awards or credentials.
Review and update process
Topic pages carry a visible last-updated and review date. The current review date across the education hub is 2026-08-25.
Dates are changed only when content is actually reviewed or revised. Pages are re-checked when federal or provincial tax rules change, when a regulator issues relevant guidance, or when a reader reports an inaccuracy.
Compliance rules we apply
We do not state or imply guaranteed returns, guaranteed income, guaranteed approval for insurance or a mortgage, elimination of tax, or a guaranteed retirement or wealth outcome.
We avoid unsubstantiated superlatives. Where a product offers a contractual guarantee, such as a segregated fund maturity guarantee, we describe the guarantee precisely and note its conditions and limits.
Examples are labelled as hypothetical. We do not publish invented client stories, reviews or ratings.
Advice, licensing and suitability
Insurance products in Canada are distributed by advisors holding a provincial life licence. Securities are distributed by registered representatives under CSA and CIRO oversight. Different parts of a plan fall under different regulators.
Any product transaction requires a suitability assessment based on your own circumstances. Nothing on this site substitutes for that process.
Corrections
